New Mexico Fire Information Website

The New Mexico Fire Information website is an interagency site that lists all fires (wildfires, prescribed burns, etc.), fire restrictions, and fire danger ratings in New Mexico. (See link at right.)

The best feature of this site is how quickly information about fires is posted after the fire begins. Posts are short, but include information about the number of acres involved, fire behavior, resources being used to fight the fire, and tactics firefighters plan to use. The posts also include any closures for roads or public lands.

Over the first 12–24 hours of a fire, there can be numerous updates. Especially after a fire has been burning for a few days, the information may be fragmented and hard to follow due to the frequency of posts. At this point, you can change to InciWeb for fire updates.
